The proposed boundary treatment replaces a failed hedge with close-boarded timber to a height of 1.8 metres, finished in a dark stain to reduce visual prominence.
The applicant considers that the height is necessary for security given two documented incidents of trespass in the preceding twelve months.
No alteration to the highway visibility splay is proposed, and the existing dropped kerb is unaffected.
BC-11.1 Boundary treatments forward of the principal elevation shall not exceed 1.0 metre in height where the prevailing character of the street is open frontage.
BC-11.4 Where security is cited, the applicant shall demonstrate that no less prominent treatment would achieve the same outcome.
BC-11.5 Retrospective applications are assessed on the same basis as prospective ones.
