A single-episode fill of the cut 1027, deposited rapidly on the evidence of the unsorted inclusions and the absence of any weathering horizon at its interface with 1019. The charcoal flecking is dispersed rather than lensed, which argues against in-situ burning.
The ceramic assemblage is mixed, with grog-tempered material from the base of the deposit and wheel-thrown grey ware within a hundred millimetres of the top. That range is too wide for a single event and is best explained as redeposited material from an adjacent feature, not yet located.
