The herbarium holds vascular plants, bryophytes and lichens from the north Atlantic and west Africa. The whole register is public, images are released as they are digitised, and loans go out to any institution that asks.

For researchers
Loans are made to institutions, not individuals. Requests are answered within ten working days and material travels within six weeks. Destructive sampling requires a separate application and is refused for types.
For everyone else
The reading room is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays without appointment. Bring nothing; pencils and hand lenses are provided, and pens are not permitted anywhere in the building.
