Iona Marek

Marek works with the material history of interior surfaces — the accumulated emulsion of a repainted room, the filler in a screw hole, the ridge where one decade's paint meets the next. Her sculptures are cast from these accretions and returned to the walls that produced them.

She studied at the Slade and has exhibited at Kunsthalle Kilcarn, the Douglas Hyde and Bergen Kunsthall. Undercoat, her first institutional survey, opens in July.
